The Picky Chemist- La Noria Washed Gesha - Loja, Ecuador
The Picky Chemist is one of my favorite roasters in the world. There is a lot of hype surrounding his drops, and we are happy to do presales for all of his releases 😊Â
Â
Roast Profile: ultralight. He roasts on a stronghold and has a very light profile. Not quite as light as XLIII or Shoebox, but still decidedly UL.
Â
Since we do presales for his coffees, we typically get very little info. This coffee is no exception! He's told me that this one is a bit "warshed" (processing forward washed coffee), but that presents more floral than funk. So expect an intensely floral cup with some nice fruit notes as well.Â

Here's some info on this coffee/producer from Moonwake:
"The La Noria Coffee Farm (windmill in English), located in Loja-Ecuador, was bought in 2017 by Tim Leahy. Tim, being a lover of drinking high quality specialty coffee, had a dream of growing the best coffee. Tim, together with Bernard Uhe (CVM), worked to find the best seeds and grow the best coffee plants. CVM is an Ecuadorian agricultural company owned by Bernard Uhe and his coffee growing family from Colombia.
The La Noria specialty coffee farm is managed by the CVM family that comes from generations of coffee growers in the province of Ibague, Colombia. Together with the Ecuadorians who know the land, we grow high elevation award winning arabica coffee in the Ecuadorian Andes.
What makes our coffee so good is the high elevation, good soil, mineral rich mountain water, high nutrient shade trees, 12 hours of sunlight year-round and the use of neem and worm tea on the plants to increase the vitality of the coffee plant and coffee bean. This produces a delicious healthy cup of coffee.
Get ready for something truly special with this stunning Gesha from La Noria. It’s no surprise their coffees have earned top honors in major competitions—despite the plants being relatively young, they’ve already made a serious mark. Their green Gesha debuted by placing 3rd in Ecuador's Golden Cup in 2021, took 2nd in the 2022 Cup of Excellence, and clinched 1st place in 2023's Golden Cup with just its third harvest."
