Shoebox is a newer roaster that I've been incredibly impressed with. If you're on Discord, you probably know Maxwell and are familiar with their backstory, but for those of you who aren't, they used to roast for a different Chicago roaster: Jimmy Beans. I didn't always love their sourcing, but I really enjoyed the roast of the coffee I tried from them. Since launching their own roastery, Shoebox is quickly becoming one of my favorite US roasters.

Roast profile: ultralight. They roast on a drum roaster The profile is ultralight, but it's a bit easier to brew that some uls imo. Also has a distinct presentation of acidity that is really interesting to contrast with most UL roasters.and the profile is really interesting. More sweetness and acidity than a lot of other uls I've had. 30+ days rest recommended!

This is the same coffee that Hydrangea and Minmax released. Maxwell bought the green from BK. We had a few options for the release, but decided on this one because it's a very clean coffee and is an all around great Colombian gesha. Really delicious coffee

Tasting notes: Fuji apple, orange blossom, lemon zest

What is a weekly release?

It’s a one off feature with a specific roaster. Weekly releases are separate from the subscription. This way you can try coffee from us without subscribing! We also offer some high end and ultra rare lots through this that we wouldn’t be able to feature on our subscriptions.

Do I need to subscribe to purchase the weekly release?

Nope! Weekly releases can be purchased as standalone coffees, no subscription required.

When will my weekly release order ship?

Shipping timelines vary by roaster and international transit. We send weekly email updates so you always know where your coffee is in the process. Make sure to sign up for our newsletter.

What does “presale” mean?

Our weekly releases are sold before the coffee arrives in the U.S. This allows us to source rare international roasters that don’t normally export here. They are roasted to order and we provide an ETA for each release through our newsletter.
