We brought on John Small when we were first starting off. Carlblikecoffee recommended them to us after his trip to Korea. They ended up being one of our best sellers and really helped to establish us. They source some excellent lots and roast them well. Defiantly not ultralight, but a nice, easy to brew light roast with lots of sweetness, but still a lot of clarity. It's been a while since we've brewed them, so we are excited to bring them back!

Roast Profile: Korean light roast (bana comfort roast?). Not super light, but not roasty unless you push it hard. John Small roast on a drum roasts and highlights the sweetness of coffees while also maintaining clarity and florals. Their more expensive green tends to be a bit lighter as well.

Why did we bring this coffee on?

Savage coffees are hit or miss for me, so I don't always get their coffees. But the last Savage coffees I got from John Small (particularly the odyssey) were the best I've had from them. Korean green buyers get some interesting Savage lots and John Small does a great job with roasting them. His CM Washed coffees tend to be pretty clean.

Tasting notes: Jasmine, bergamot, mandarin, orange

What is a weekly release?

It’s a one off feature with a specific roaster. Weekly releases are separate from the subscription. This way you can try coffee from us without subscribing! We also offer some high end and ultra rare lots through this that we wouldn’t be able to feature on our subscriptions.

Do I need to subscribe to purchase the weekly release?

Nope! Weekly releases can be purchased as standalone coffees, no subscription required.

When will my weekly release order ship?

Shipping timelines vary by roaster and international transit. We send weekly email updates so you always know where your coffee is in the process. Make sure to sign up for our newsletter.

What does “presale” mean?

Our weekly releases are sold before the coffee arrives in the U.S. This allows us to source rare international roasters that don’t normally export here. They are roasted to order and we provide an ETA for each release through our newsletter.
