Grandmum cafe - Moran Washed SL28, SL34, Ruiru11 - Kiambu, Kenya- 100g
Grandmum cafe is a micro roaster based in Vietnam. They typically only roast for their cafe, so it's a real treat that they worked with us for this. If you're on Discord, Halp does some QC/consulting for them. The roastery is owned by Vietnam's first Aeropress champion, Thi Le. This is a really great example of Vietnamese specialty coffee roasting, and I'm thrilled to be sharing them with you!
Roast Profile: Nordic light. They actually started as a multi roaster and carried a lot of nordic roasters, so they were pretty influenced by that. There will be some development if you push it hard, but with lower ey brews, the coffee really shines. They roast on an OPP, a drum roaster from Vietnam.
Why'd I bring this coffee on?
This was brought on for the washed sub. I had a washed Ethiopian coffee and this was the only washed coffee available from a different origin. This is a pretty classic Kenyan. I love Kenyan coffee, so I'm always happy to try a new roast/washing station. Nordic light profiles highlight sweetness, but also acidity, which really makes Kenyans pop. Very tart with some deeper purple flavors.
Who's this coffee for?
People who like Kenyan coffee
Tasting notes: Dried plum, cranberry, grapefruit
