Substance Cafe - Finca Sophia Natural Gesha Lot 129 - Boquete, Panama

Substance is one of the most hyped roasters we've worked with. Joachim is hugely influential in the ultralight coffee scene and has inspired a wide range of coffee roasters. He doesn't really do wholesale, so we are very happy to be working with him and showcasing his coffee

Roast Profile:

This is a classic ultralight profile. Kind of right in the middle in terms of development in the UL range. Minmax was very inspired by him, so I'd say that that's a solid comparison for roast. 

Why Did We Bring This Coffee On?

This is a super unique green that you don't see much of anywhere. Joaquim has said many times that this is his favorite farm in Panama. It's also the highest elevation farm in Panama and a whopping 2026 MASL. Really unique coffee, don't miss this one! 

Words from the farm: "Harvested from the Colibrí area of Finca Sophia, known for its exceptional washed and natural Geishas year after year. Colibrí is named after the hummingbirds that frequent Finca Sophia, as well as for the energetic profiles produced there. This particular lot was hand-picked in the middle of March, the beginning of the middle of the harvest, a time that generally results in our highest-scoring lots and is emblematic of Finca Sophia naturals that balance typical red fruit notes with florality."
