Special Guests - Dos Mundos Natural SL28 - Panama - 100g
Special Guests has been on our radar for a while, but we had gotten reports that they were more developed than we would like. Recently, a mutual in Canada gave us some bags from them to sample. While it is on the more developed end of what I drink, I ended up really liking the coffees. I think their approach and sourcing is really unique and we reached out after finishing the bags.
Roast Profile: Light-medium. While it is more developed, the roast profile does a good job of highlighting sweet fruit notes and juicy acidity. without coming off as 'roasty' (as long as you brew it with a lower ey recipe).
Why did we bring this coffee on?
Super interesting project that's sort of similar to Hachi. Finca La Negrita tends to produce much cleaner coffees though (we've had some higher processed lots that came out ultra clean in the cup).
"When Mauricio Shattah and Ratibor Hartmann work on a new project, you take note.
This is one of the first coffees from their new project, Dos Mundos - or in english, two worlds. The project is a meeting of minds, both producers known for growing exceptional coffees in their respective countries, Mauricio from Finca La Negrita in Colombia and Ratibor from Mi Finquita, Panama come together to work on a single farm together.
Their farm, this year, has produced its very first commercial harvest - a landmark event. Having had the good fortune to work with Mauricio many years, and bought from Ratibor in the past, it's fair to say this coffee had us excited."
Tasting notes: Floral, Kiwi, papaya
