Datura - Alo Chilaka Natural - Sidama, Ethiopia - 200g
Datura is one of the roasters that I bring on the most. I really like their roasting and sourcing. Everything we've had, from high end Panama lots to more 'standard' African lots have been top notch!
Roast Profile: On the slightly more developed end of ultralight (somewhere between Nordic and UL). They roast on a Stronghold S07. Kinda similar to Gout & Co's roast level, but a different presentation of flavor. Still recommend at least 4 weeks (but probably 5-6 weeks) of rest for this one!
Why did we bring this coffee on?
I wanted to buy a different coffee from them, but it sold out as I was ordering it. They gave me access to a new coffee that they were dropping: this alo lot! Chilaka is a washing station owned by Tamiru Tadesse. It's on the same hill as Alo, his more famous washing station, but is a bit lower in elevation. I find coffees from this station to be a bit less complex, but still delicious. I really enjoy the naturals I've had from this region and am very excited for Datura's roast of it! We were the first to release this coffee from them :)
Tasting notes: Violet, nectarine, blackberry, grape, fig leaf
